Attention: Guest Posters (and people thinking of being guest posters)

guestpostimage.jpgHi everyone, firstly thank you so much to everyone who sent me messages following the family emergency. Thankfully things are doing better now so I am able to return to this blog. 🙂

Secondly, I had a number of people wanting to contribute to this blog, so rather than contact you each individually, I thought it would be best to put the details about guest posting here.

So, if you have shown interest in being a guest poster, please read the below and if you are still interested, select your deadline date from the bottom of this email and leave a comment or drop me an email (listed within this post). Deadline dates are first come first serve.

☆ Topic – The topic can be anything you want to write, though should be something relevant for this blog. So that can be about writing, reading, reviewing books, publishing, editing, proofreading, personal experiences regarding writing/publishing, about you as a writer, what makes a great book, how you get your creative ideas etc.

If you are struggling to think of a topic, we can make it an interview and I can draft up some questions to ask. Either is fine for me, however if you want an interview, people let me know in a comment so I can create some questions ready.

Don’t worry if you want to write about a subject/technique already covered in the blog by either myself or another guest blogger, that is totally fine as well. Since we all have our own spin on things.

EDIT: One thing I won’t really accept is anything about fanfiction / fanart. I’m sorry if this is something you are in to, however I am more interested in supporting and encouraging writers/artists who create their own work rather than use other people’s ideas. This is my personal preference.

☆ Word length – There is no really word limit though most people don’t go over 1500 words. So it can be as long or as short as you want. (However really long posts will be split over two posts and if it’s massive, I may ask you to cut it down…but that’s never happened).

☆ Deadline – At the bottom of this post I will list the deadline dates, if you can let me know which date you would like. It is first come first serve, so if your date has been choice, I will offer you another. Please can I ask that you stick to the deadline, if you think you can’t you need to let me know in good time. If you have some commitments coming up, please let me know so I don’t give you a deadline you can’t meet.

I like to receive completed guest posts on Sundays so I can prep them on my blog and schedule them for publishing on the following Tuesday.

☆ Author Photo – I do like to include an author photo (if you are happy with that) I know my readers like to see the author of the post. It doesn’t have to be a photo, it can be an artwork (like I have for my picture…since I hate photos of myself) or another image that you use as an avatar such as a logo/banner for your book/manuscript. Or I can supply a stock photo for the article.

☆ Book Blurb (& photo) – Whether you are a published author or not, feel free to include a short blurb about your current book or work in progress manuscript that I can include at the end of your article (totally fine if you would rather not). Photo – if you are a published author, please feel free to include an image of your book cover along with the blurb and one link on where the book can be purchased.

☆ Links – Do please include some social media links that you want so that my readers can connect with you in different places. This guest posting is all about sharing the love as well as getting awesome ideas and experiences from other people, so I want it to be good exposure for other writers/reviewers/publishers like yourself.

☆ Pimping – Once the article is published on this blog, I will link it to my Guest Posters page and I will then pimp it out on my facebook, twitter, pinterest, instagram and dA accounts to increase the exposure. I would appreciate it if you took the time to also pimp it out to increase exposure. This guest posting is about supporting each other, so do take the time to spread the word (for your own exposure and this blog’s).

☆ Sending your article – Please write your article in Word or any other word process equivalent, the book blurb and social media links can be listed at the very bottom and I will sort them into my blog. Please send the article, author photo (and book photo if applicable) to arimeghlen (at) gmail.com (remove (at) and spaces and put in @).

☆ A reminder – As I mentioned in the original post, this guest posting is to benefit everyone. Exposure for you, blog exposure for me, awesome tips, ideas, wisdom shared for the readers. So you must write an ‘article’ not a full page advert for your book/website etc. If I feel you are taking the piss and not giving my readers something worthwhile I will just not publish your article.

I’m happy to include the blurb about your current book / WIP manuscript, but the article can’t be just a way to sell your work. Also, please only include the blurb/book picture of ONE book. Either your current or the first book of your series or if you are unpublished your manuscript. Please don’t give me details / links about all your books, these will be ignored. Since I run this blog, I have final say on whether to publish your article.

☆ Questions – If you have any questions or want to discuss the topic you choose with me before writing it, in case you aren’t sure it will work, drop me an email and I’ll come back to you.

☆ Still interested in guest posting? – if all the above hasn’t made you think, “hell no!” then drop me a comment to confirm if you are still up for it and let me know which date you want for your deadline. (it also proves to me that you have read this whole post) 🙂

    • Hi Darlene, thanks for your comment. Please click the link at the bottom of the current post, it will take you to my page that goes through guidelines about what I need and will allow for a guest post. Once you have read that, drop me a note confirming you accept the guidelines and tell me your deadline date (listed at the bottom of the post). You can do a post about where ideas come from and how to integrate experiences into stories. That would be good. Please note though the posts cannot just be about your books. I look forward to hearing from you

  1. I’m late to the party – are there any dates available in April or May – I’m flexible. I’d like to write a post about the “re-visioning” of one of my series and the creation of a fourth book within that series. Thank you.

    • Hi,

Never to late for this party, I am hoping to have guest posters throughout the year. 🙂

Currently i have the 30th April and all of may (my deadlines are all Sundays so just let me know what date you want.)

The articles are then prepped and scheduled to launch know the following Tuesdays.

Thanks for offering your time to guest post

    • Hi Icky thanks for joining the guest posting. 19th March has been claimed, I have put you for 9th April. Let me know if that doesn’t work for you. Any questions let me know. Thanks 🙂

      • The early owl, gets the worm.
Ha ha, you got me, Owl Lady.
I will be happy to take April 9th.
        Happy reading, Ari!
        ~Icky. 🙂

    • Hi Tanya, thanks for wanting to be a guest poster! I have put you down for that slot 🙂 do let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing your article 🙂

    • Hi Tanya, I am just chasing up your guest blog post. Apologies, I usually chase up before the deadline but a family situation stole my time and I completely missed checking in.

Normally the post would be launched today. I can push it to tomorrow if you need more time? Or if you aren’t able to complete I can give you a new deadline.

      Please let me know,

      • Hi, sorry to only just be replying. Due to problems with my health i am unable to complete my own blog posts at the moment and so am sorry to let you know that i will no longer be able to participate. Sorry for the inconvenience.

      • Hi Tanya, I am sorry to hear you are suffering health problems. Don’t worry about the post, look after yourself and if you ever want to guest post in the future you are more than welcome. Wishing you all the best and I wish you a speedy recovery.

  3. Yes, I do still want to be a guest on your blog, but cannot choose a date from your list. Any time in February would work for me, so whichever date fits in with your schedule?
